This Months Featured Movie Review:
The X-Men
Listen To This Review!

While this movie was good, it was not as good as I had hoped for.
The special effects were great but two few and too far apart. As
an X-men fan myself, for many years, I followed the story knowing
how they came to be the X-Men and the lives they have lived in the
comic books. I could see where they stayed true to the comic book
and where they deviated.
They had a good story line to tell and I think they did a good job
of telling it - I think that was the problem. It was too much story
and not enough X-Men! The plot involving the next step in human
evolution and genetic mutation was told in a relevant way by using
the situations that reflect the real prejudices of today. As well
as it was told I wanted more action!
The trailer had all these excellent special effects that made me
think it would be wall to wall action so I was a little let down.
I also think they left to many key X-Men out of the movie, The X-Men
are not just those four people that make up the X-Men movie. I missed
Dr. Henry McCoy, he is in my opinion one of the main brains in the
comic book. Patrick Stewart was excellent as Xavier and the directorial
work of Bryan Singer is top notch.
This however doesn't matter the movie it's self is good enough to
hold it's on in the box office, with a $57.5 million launch the
makers of X-Men are sure to recoup the $75 million they spent on
making the film. Once I got over the disappoint of the movie not
being what I thought it should have been and thinking about what
the film is, I find myself liking it a little more and more. It
wont ever be one of my favorites but it a good film to kill a few
hours with.
