Spam Sucks
If you have an email address then I am sure you know what I am talking about don't you. I'm not talking about that gross luncheon meat, I am talking about those resource and time stealing asses that continue to send unsolicited emails to your and my email boxes day after day.
And it is just getting worse! I have spam filters set up, but the spammers have programs to make sure that each new issue of spam they spawn changes all the fields that are filterable. Now a days I get the same spam message over and over. And they are the worst kind of "get rich quick" MLM crapola that you can imagine. "Earn Big Bucks from the comfort of your own Home!!" ; indeed.
I'm not a techie type so I have no idea about can be done to stop this insidious practice, but from all indications there is not much that can be done. It seems to me that someone could come up with some artificial intelligent agent that could figure out what is spam and kill it before it gets in front of my eyeballs. Of course I'd be scared to use it - I'd be worried it would delete some "good" email that I actually wanted to see.
Now the US Postal service wants to assign every US citizen with a unique email address to send tax information and other "official" government documents. Deputy Postmaster General John M. Nolan says the addresses "could have a commercial marketing potential for mass mailers"! - Government sponsored Spam! Now having my tax dollars help fund spammers really pisses me off.
There are services out like spamcop.net and brightlight.com that can help, but in reality there is nothing that we normal netizens can do. We are at the mercy of these junk mail sending jerks. For now.
