What's up with x.com?

This is more of a rambling rave than a rant.

I'm really digging the state of the internet today. Actually, just the opportunities that it's opening. The possibilities. The creativity that it is inspiring.

Call me an optimist, tell me I have my head in the clouds. But for a second, just listen.

Do you realize where we are right now? We're listening to the first telephone call when the phone was created. We're watching the first television transmission, we're hearing the first radio broadcast, and we don't even realize it.

The internet is in such an infancy stage...people will be looking back on these times, wondering what it was like back then. And we'll have the stories. These are the classics.

In a time where you can register a domain name for less than $20 bucks a year, host a website for $5 a month, and with a little persistence and passion, reach a worldwide audience without spending a dollar in advertising, we should be thankingourluckystars.com.

The newest classic, is the ability to get paid for doing things you already do. There is such a river of opportunity to earn money online, that people, businesses, and even banks are jumping in naked and unashamed.

As you read this, you could be getting paid while you are surfing the internet, reading rants and raves, chatting with friends and enemies, and even while you're thinking of how simplistic and vague this all sounds, you could be earning a few bucks. A lot of people already know this, and are surfing with abandon, using their view bar, or pay bar, or whatever it takes to get something back from all those hours you spend online.

But dig this. This bank, x.com, is giving away $20 to everyone who signs up for their online checking account services. They figure, they could give you a toaster like the old banks used to, but they're sure you could use an extra $20 bucks even more.

So, I said, heck, I'll sign up. What could it hurt? They don't ask me for anything, and they want to give me money. My ideal relationship. I sign up and, hey, there it is, $20 in my account. They even set me up with a line of credit, sent a cool Visa check card in the mail, allow me to email money or send payments to anyone with an email address, and to top it all off, they give me $10 if anybody I know signs up.

I've told you all that, to tell you this: it's out there. It's not a mystery, or a wizard hiding behind a screen. It's just simple, everyday stuff things that is making this time a classic.

It's all out there. All I'm saying is take advantage of now, because it'll be in the history books later.

I bought my first share today.
