Reflections

The rain comes down softly like a grey veil.
Tires whisper by on the street, the fire plays among the logs.
I see myself among the flames, my dreams are there, and my discontent.
 
Who am I that I should be here--loved and somebody?
I am a being--yet who will know that I have been?
I am a part of my family, yet the family is there without me.
I am a creature of God--yet there are so many.
 
These thoughts are mine as I sit alone and think.
