Two Special People

By Jingles

Dreaming in the dead of night, reality comes to life. For six days straight I see this small innocent child wearing nothing but an old tattered shirt soiled with dirt much too large for his fragile little body, walk to the trash bin that sits outside the old monestary, take out the leftovers that the Nuns left behind, and shovel it in his mouth to overcome his hunger, carry an old rusty pail to the green, mossy river, for its the only water to splash across his forlorn face and pour down his dry throat, sit on a small stone on the waters edge and take off his cardboard shoes and peel the skin from his blistered feet.

As the sun begins to set each day, this innocent child sneaks out from behind a small door in the monestary, and welcomes God into his prayers as he silently kneels before the alter.

As bright lights flutter overhead representing heavenly angels, I wonder how this child can put his trust in God when he has been given such a place in life. With guilt and shame on the seventh day, I follow this child into the monestary and slowly kneel beside him and begin pleading for God almighty to put me in this childs place and let him have my life. As I begin to float above my praying body, my mind entangles with flashes of this innocent child surrounded by fear, weakness, heartache and sadness.

As God points me down to this innocent child who so eagerly and happily prays before him, a graceous smile broadens across his, tiny but pale face. Its then that I suddenly realize there is a purpose for his place in life. God chose this innocent child to lead this life. I look up to God, as a graceous smile broadens across MY face. Everyday this innocent child walks alone to find his food, walks alone to the river to fill his rusty pail, and walks alone to the monestary to pray, therefore having the courage to be fearful. Everyday this innocent child eats leftover food that he knows will be waiting so lamely for him, he drinks from a green, mossy river to moisten his thirst, and he walks with shoes made of cardboard; therefore he has the strength to be weakened.

Everyday this innocent child peels skin from his blistered feet, then prays to his God above, therefore he has the love to endure heartache, everyday this innocent child pulls a smile onto his face while praying to his God above after enduring the fear, weakness, and heartache everyday; therefore he has the happiness to be sad. Thus putting his trust in god. This innocent chld shows me the courage to be fearful, the strength to be weak, the love to endure heartache and the happiness to be sad, therefore I put my trust in God.
