Why is it no one can belong to a religion without people bad-mouthing it or them? "Oh, Religion X is just a front for devil worship!" Or: "Religion Y practices black magic!" Or: "Believers in Religion Z eat puppies and small children!"
I happen to be a Wiccan, but I don't go around belittling friends' religions (or lack of same) or telling them Wicca is the only way to heaven. Yet plenty of others see nothing wrong with telling perfect strangers why their religious beliefs "just don't cut it."
Look, if you've found Jesus or Buddha or Zoroaster and your life is better for it, I'll be the first to congratulate you. But why is it so necessary that I believe the same things you do? Wouldn't the world be a poorer place if we were all nothing but little cookie-cutter people?
The Wiccan credo is "An it harm none, do as ye will." And frankly, I wish a hell of a lot more people subscribed to it.
