The Nintendo game that we have been playing the last couple of days is the Super Smash Brothers. It's a combat game featuring the usual cast of Mario characters. At first we couldn't quite figure out the scoring system, but the object is to use your powers to fight your opponent and eventually throw him off the combat platform.
The graphics are fair to good, however if you are playing in team mode against a couple of opponents the screen gets to wide to tell what is going on at times. You can play a variety of different arenas and characters and each has different strengths and weaknesses. The favorites here seem to be Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Link, Fox, and Captain Falcon.
Once you figure the basics out it's very playable and enjoyable enough to play more than once. We couldn't find any hidden character cheats and would have enjoyed playing more than dozen or so provided. Gameplay itself is good, but the control of the fighters is not quite as good as in other similar games.
The bottom line is that it is a good way to kill a few hours, but is far from the best game we've ever played.
